Privacy Policy

Introduction

NextPark ("NextPark," "we," "us," or "our") operates the NextPark mobile application and website at www.nextparkapp.com (together, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Information we collect

We collect information in these categories:

  • Account information. When you sign in, we receive your email address and authentication identifiers through our identity provider.
  • Profile information. Information you choose to add to your hooper profile, such as display name, avatar, borough, basketball attributes, experience level, social handles, and other optional details.
  • Location information. With your permission, we use device location to sort parks by distance and improve court discovery. We do not continuously track your location in the background unless you grant that permission on your device.
  • User-generated content. Messages in park chats and direct messages, social posts, comments, park photos, highlights, league requests, and related media you upload.
  • Activity and gameplay data. Call-next queue participation, ETA signals, crowd activity votes, favorites, friend connections, ratings, contributions, exclusive run listings, registrations, and similar in-app actions.
  • Payment information. If you pay for or host paid exclusive runs, payment card and payout details are collected and processed by Stripe. We receive transaction metadata (such as payment status, amounts, and connected account identifiers) but not your full card number.
  • Push notification tokens. If you enable notifications, we store a device push token and related device identifier so we can deliver alerts you opt into.
  • Reports and safety information. If you report content or users, we collect the report details you submit and related context needed to review it.
  • Technical and usage data. Basic device and app information (such as platform, app version, and diagnostic logs) needed to operate, secure, and improve the Service.

How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Authenticate you and manage your account
  • Enable messaging, social features, queues, ETAs, and organized runs
  • Process payments and payouts for exclusive runs through Stripe
  • Send push notifications according to your in-app notification preferences
  • Moderate content, investigate reports, and enforce our Terms of Use
  • Respond to support requests and communicate about the Service
  • Protect against fraud, abuse, and security incidents
  • Comply with legal obligations

How we share information

We may share information in these situations:

  • With other users. Content you post publicly or within a park or social context is visible to other users according to the feature you use (for example, park chat, profiles, or social posts).
  • With service providers. We use third parties that process data on our behalf, including:
    • InstantDB — database, authentication, and file storage
    • Stripe — payment processing and host payouts (Stripe Connect)
    • Expo / push infrastructure — delivery of mobile push notifications
    • Vercel — website and API hosting
  • For legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, to respond to lawful requests, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of NextPark, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

We do not sell your personal information.

Your choices

  • Profile and content. You can edit much of your profile in the app and delete content you posted where the product supports it.
  • Location. You can disable location permissions in your device settings. Some features may work less accurately without location.
  • Notifications. You can control notification categories in app settings and disable push notifications in your device settings.
  • Account deletion. See our account deletion page for steps, what is deleted or kept, and retention details. You can also email support@nextparkapp.com.

Data retention

We retain information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with legal obligations. We may retain anonymized or aggregated data that cannot reasonably identify you.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at support@nextparkapp.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

International users

NextPark is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the "Last updated" date. Material changes may also be communicated in the app or by email where appropriate.
